PPF CERTIFICATION AND WARRANTY EXPLAINED
What a customer is buying when they buy a registered installation.
A PPF warranty covers the film and relies on the installation, so a customer buying a registered installation is buying both halves. The film side is the manufacturer's promise about yellowing, staining, bubbling, peeling and cracking. The installation side is what keeps that promise valid: a clean surface, proper technique, an authorised installer and a job registered through e-Warranty within 7 days of invoice. This page explains both halves, what is covered and what is not, so an installer can explain it at quoting time and field fewer complaints later.
Two Things Are
Being Warranted
A PPF warranty covers the film and relies on the installation. The film side is the manufacturer's promise about yellowing, staining, bubbling, peeling and cracking. The installation side is the condition that makes that promise valid: clean surface, proper technique, an authorised installer and a registered job.
Both halves are written down on the warranty page and the warranty guide. An installer who can explain both halves at quoting time closes more work and fields fewer complaints.
What Authorised
Installation Means
Defcon film is warranted when installed on OEM paint by an authorised Defcon Films installer and registered through e-Warranty within 7 days of invoice. Authorisation comes through the trade relationship with Defcon, including training and support. For owners, how the e-Warranty system protects installers and owners covers why transferable cover matters at resale.
There is no separate certificate to frame. The authorisation lives in the registration: a job that is registered by an authorised installer carries the warranty, a job that is not does not.
Serial Numbers
On Every Roll
Every roll carries a serialised e-Warranty ID label. Registration ties that serial to the vehicle, the installer and the invoice date, which is how a claim is verified as genuine film installed by an authorised shop. It is also how a customer selling the car proves the cover transfers.
Warranty Length
By Film Line
Defcon ONE carries a 12-year limited warranty, Glanz and Frozen 10 years, Spectra colour PPF 7 years, Crystal Shield and FleetArmour 3 years, and CoolVue window tint a lifetime limited warranty, all under normal use and proper installation.
The years differ because the films differ: FleetArmour is a sacrificial coverage film replaced when worn, Crystal Shield sits on glass, and the gloss lines are built for the life of the paint.
What Is Covered,
What Is Installation Related
Covered: yellowing, staining, bubbling, peeling and cracking of the film under normal use. Installation related, and therefore the installer's responsibility: moisture haze, water pockets, dust contamination and lifting edges caused by prep or technique.
That split is the reason surface preparation is a warranty condition rather than a preference. The installation guide sets out the stages that keep a job inside the covered column.
Scratches contained in the 13-micron self-healing coat recover with heat. Anything that cuts through the coat is permanent and is not a warranty matter; that section is replaced.
How A Claim
Runs
The procedure is published: the registered installation is looked up by serial, the fault is assessed against the covered list, and an approved claim is handled through the installer who registered the job. A written procedure is what separates a warranty from a promise.
Compare this with any other brand by asking for its claim steps in writing before stocking the film.
Explaining It
To The Customer
At handover, the customer should receive the registration record, the care instructions and the plain sentence that defines the cover: film faults are warranted for the stated years, damage from impact or improper care is not.

How long after installation can I register a job?
Within 7 days of invoice, through e-Warranty, on OEM paint, by an authorised installer.
